Yao Luo Receives 2026 Milton and Francis Clauser Doctoral Prize

Yao Luo, EAS graduate student in Applied Physics, has won the Milton and Francis Clauser Doctoral Prize for his PhD Thesis: "First Principles Many-Body Theory of Polarons and Data-Driven Compression of Quantum Interactions." His research establishes a new paradigm that integrates AI-inspired methods with fundamental physics, opening broad new directions for predictive materials physics.
The Clauser prize is awarded annually "to a Ph. D. candidate whose research is judged to exhibit the greatest degree of originality as evidenced by its potential for opening up new avenues of human thought and endeavor as well as by the ingenuity with which it has been carried out. Yao's doctoral work was conducted in the group of Prof. Marco Bernardi.
